extended FAMILY SESSIONS

Extended family gatherings are loud, lively, chaotic, and full of love. As your Portland family photographer, I create an extended family photo session experience that feels effortless and joyful, so you can just sit back and enjoy your family!
I'll meet you at your favorite Portland park or in your home/backyard with calm energy and guide everyone through the process. We'll get all the group shots and leave time for some more informal, relaxed, candid moments too!
You'll walk away with warm, playful images that bring back the feeling of your family, all together in Portland.
During your Extended Family Session, I will make sure to photograph every possible grouping of family. Each individual family unit will get their own images, as well as photos of all the children together, kiddos with grandparents, adult siblings together, adults with their parents, etc.
Before the session I'll have you fill out a form listing everyone who will be present and their relationships, and you'll have the chance to list any groupings that are particularly important to your family.
Extended Family Sessions are generally a bit more posed, look-at-the-camera-and-smile than my typical family sessions, but I still show up with the same calm, playful energy and make sure it's a fun time for everyone!
You'll get a prep guide after booking which will include info about coordinating outfits for the whole crew, how to ready your home (if we're doing the session indoors), and how to get everyone as prepared as possible.

I will take the reins and you can try to relax. I know it can feel chaotic with so many people, especially if there are lots of kiddos, but we'll keep the energy light and playful. I'll have a list of all the groupings I need, so your job will mostly be to keep the kiddos in a good mood and help me corral individuals as I work through the list.

You’ll get a handful of sneak peeks within a few days, and your full gallery within 3-4 weeks. The gallery will include all the best images - at least 100, often more. Literally every single parent worries that their children won’t behave during a session. I know it’s easier said than done, but please, try to let go of the impulse to control their behavior during the session. They don’t need to look at the camera or participate in every pose.
The more you try to direct them, the less they’ll want to listen to anyone. So hand over the reins - I will make sure to get what we need for beautiful photos. Your ONLY job for this time is to cuddle, love on, and play with your family.
